Q: Why was the program developed?A: SEE was designed to help students contribute to the cost of their education by earning a good wage, in addition to developing their skills and knowledge and have opportunities to participate in Saskatchewan economy. Q: Who is eligible to be employed through SEE?A: Any student in high school or in a post-secondary institution who is 15 and over can apply. Students who have previously worked under the program are eligible and encouraged to apply again also. Q: Is hiring through the program based on Employment Equity?A: Although all components of the program use different hiring mechanisms, there are contractual agreements in place with partner agencies that stipulate fair and open hiring practices must be in place. Q: Where and how do students apply for jobs through SEE?A: Employers hire students directly. Jobs funded through the program, however, are posted at www.saskjobs.ca. Q: Is the program limited to summer employment?A: While many of the jobs are full-time student summer positions, there are also many opportunities for students to work full and part-time during the school year. Q: Why aren’t SEE funding broadly available to private businesses?A: The program is currently focused on providing good jobs for students in the non-profit sector.
