A: Student Employment Experience is designed to improve youth's views of opportunity in Saskatchewan as they earn while they learn.

A: The program provides employers with a percentage of student salary and benefit costs to a maximum of $3,500.

A: The objectives of the Student Employment Experience are:

• Improve youth's views of quality work available in Saskatchewan
• Improve students' ability to pay for continued education
• Provide students with practical work experience consistent with their field of study, interest, or career ambition
• Link graduates and future graduates and future graduates to potential long-term employers in Saskatchewan
• Create employment opportunities that strengthen organizational capacity and support succession planning
  

A: SEE was designed to help students contribute to the cost of their education by earning a good wage, in addition to developing their skills and knowledge and have opportunities to participate in Saskatchewan economy.

A: Any student in high school or in a post-secondary institution who is 15 and over can apply. Students who have previously worked under the program are eligible and encouraged to apply again also.

A: Although all components of the program use different hiring mechanisms, there are contractual agreements in place with partner agencies that stipulate fair and open hiring practices must be in place.

A: Employers hire students directly. Jobs funded through the program, however, are posted at www.saskjobs.ca.

A: While many of the jobs are full-time student summer positions, there are also many opportunities for students to work full and part-time during the school year.

A: The program is currently focused on providing good jobs for students in the non-profit sector. A federal student employment program, Summer Career Placements, funds for-profit employers. Private industry employers are encouraged to call their toll-free number 1-800-935-5555.
