Women and Work

In 2008-09, the Status of Women Office contracted with an external agency to develop a series of socio-demographic profiles of Saskatchewan women.  The 2009 profiles update and enhance work that was done previously from 1996 Census data and published in either 2001 or 2002, which are also provided for reference below. 

The profiles and related documents below contain analysis of the status of women in the Saskatchewan labour force, including comparisons between women and men.

• Women in the Saskatchewan Labour Market: A Comparison of Wage Rates (2008)
  
  This report provides a broad range of statistics about women in Saskatchewan's labour market and then focuses on average hourly wage rates. These wage rates are examined according to the characteristics of the women and the characteristics of positions in which they work. 

• Pregnancy, Parenting & the Workplace: What Employees and Employers Need to Know (2006)
  
  This publication was created through a partnership of Saskatchewan Labour (the Work and Family Unit, Labour Standards, and the Status of Women Office) the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, Service Canada, Saskatchewan Health, and the Breastfeeding Committee for Saskatchewan.
